What makes desis so unique in the way they need to take care of their health?
Desis are unique in many ways. Desis are genetically different and prone to heart diseases and diabetes. This is also because the desi diet is high in carbohydrates and low in protein. One of the reasons for a desi diet being high in carbs is that most of the desi diet is vegetarian with carbohydrate rich and starchy vegetables. Also some of the desi diet items like gulab jamun are loaded with calories, most of it from fats and sugar. Such a typical desi diet comprising of high amounts of carbohydrate, sugar and fats leads to various health problems seen in desis. Hence a desi diet tailored to the desi way of living is important.
